Introducing The Castell-y-Bwch.

The Castell-y-Bwch is a family-run pub and restaurant situated in the Henllys Lanes, Cwmbran. We had the pleasure of designing them a new website, logo and menus. This is what happened.

Web Design & Graphic Design - The Castell-y-Bwch

The Problem

When The Castell-y-Bwch approached us they didn’t have a website. All of their marketing activities were communicated through Facebook. Bev had expressed an interest in a website for some time. The main concerns she had related to the content and not having the time to collate the information needed for a website.

The main priority was to provide her customers with a facility to view the menus. Majority of customers expressed that it would be beneficial to view the menus before booking a meal at The Castell.

The Solution

After initial discussions we identified that the website should promote more than just the menus. The Castell is a traditional country pub – wood beams, log fire and stunning views from its gardens. As avid country pub fans we believed it would be a missed opportunity if we didn’t show this.

We decided the only way to do it justice was through professional photography. This put the imagery front and centre for the whole project. We wanted The Castell’s audience to see the website and imagine themselves being there. We call it selling the dream!

One of the challenges we faced was structuring the menu. The Castell-y-Bwch like to give their customers plenty of choice! We designed the menus and presented them to Bev. The feedback was good, so good in fact, she asked us to design the menus for print. As part of this we created a new brand identity, including logo design and colour schemes.

The brand identity we created informed much of the design decisions for the website. We opted for a traditional style using serif fonts and minimal colour schemes.

For the online menu we provided two options: (1) a sample menu, fully interactive, on the website and (2) a full version of the menu downloadable in PDF format. The website was also designed and built to work on mobiles, tablets and desktops.

Client Feedback

The Castell-y-Bwch Feedback - Web Design

We were thrilled with our website. We took many bookings based on our customers being able to view the menus beforehand. The feedback we get about the website is always positive. The website, menus and new logo have been received well by our customers.

We were very impressed with Brantag. We approached them to design our Christmas and Festive Fayre menus. At short notice they delivered and once again the work was to a very high standard. We highly recommend Brantag if you’re are looking for any Website Design or Marketing.
